Affirmations
Affirmations are simple statements that you say to yourself as often as possible. By repeating affirmations it helps to “reprogram” your subconscious mind in a positive way.
There are two primary affirmations: Verbal and Visual. They are both powerful techniques to communicate and work with your subconscious mind.
1. They must resonate with you and feel believable or possible
You can read or say verbal affirmations to yourself before you go to bed or first thing in the morning or have affirmations placed near your computer screen or on your refrigerator etc. This way you can see and read them often. Another very powerful technique is to read or say them to yourself while looking in the mirror.
Three things to keep in mind when creating your affirmations:
For visual affirmations (also known as visualization): Sit down, relax, close your eyes and create a scene in your mind of your desire, as if, it is happening right now. So for example, if your dream is to be a singer, then relax, close your eyes and visualize yourself on a stage singing to an excited audience and your performance is amazing. Visualize this scene until you get a positive and excited feeling. It is important to get the “feeling’ of being a singer and not to just run "empty" pictures in your mind without feelings and expression.
Third, always make your affirmations positive. Don’t say; I hate being sick, say instead, I am enjoying great health and my body gets stronger and healthier everyday.
Secondly, write your affirmations in the present tense as if it is already happening. So, start them with words like; I am. For example, I am confident and capable and I am able to do many things.
First, they must resonate and feel possible. If for example you say to yourself; I am a billionaire. This will feel unrealistic and impossible (unless of course you’re a billionaire) So you might say instead; I am attracting a lot more money into my life, or, my income is increasing by 10 percent.
2. Keep them in the present tense
Let’s go over each one.
3. Always make them positive
Visual and Verbal affirmations are both simple and powerful ways to remove negativites, fear or doubts from your subconscious mind, and create an overall positive mindset.
